About
Hershey Builders was founded on a simple idea: the best homes get built when everyone at the table is working together. That means listening to the architect, respecting the designer's intent, being honest with the owner, and running a jobsite where the trades take pride in their work because they're treated like the craftspeople they are.
Based in Aspen. Building throughout the Roaring Fork Valley.
Scott Hershey
Founder
Scott started his first company straight out of high school. SNL Landscape and Construction is where he learned carpentry the hard way — frame to finish, with his own hands — and those skills are still in use on every Hershey Builders job.
He went on to earn a degree in Structural Engineering and Construction Management from Northeastern University, and after a short stint at an engineering firm, he followed his real interest back into construction. He joined a small boutique general contractor in Boston that specialized in demanding federal work: military bases, high-security prisons, and historic sites on the National Register for the National Park Service. Along the way, he studied historic preservation carpentry as well as cabinet and furniture making at North Bennet Street School, the oldest trade school in the country.
After moving to Aspen, he drove the bowl cat at Aspen Highlands, took on project management on the side, and eventually joined a local firm where he helped build tens of thousands of square feet of ground-up luxury homes — running project management on some and site superintendent on others. Seeing projects from both seats gave the holistic view of how a house actually gets built.
Hershey Builders grew out of that foundation. The goal isn't to reinvent the wheel; it's to reinforce it. Thorough design review, proactive scheduling, and budgets that hold. Quality always comes first — but getting there depends on understanding the whole process, start to finish.
